First things first
Weight loss surgery is an operation to lose weight in cases of severe obesity. In addition, the surgery is performed to correct serious conditions caused by obesity. During surgery, the surgeon makes your stomach smaller. In some operations, the small intestine is also rerouted. This allows you to eat less and only small portions. It also decreases the feeling of hunger. This causes you to lose weight.

Gastric SleeveDuring gastric sleeve surgery, the surgeon removes about 80% of your stomach. The reduced stomach is shaped and sized like a narrow tube or banana. Only the stomach is altered, the intestines remain intact.
Gastric BypassAfter undergoing a Gastric Bypass, only a stomach reservoir remains, about the size of a kiwi. The reduced stomach now connects directly to the small intestine. A bypass is made in your intestines.
Mini Gastric BypassThis is a variation of the Gastric Bypass. The surgery is also called One Anastomosis Bypass or Omega Loop Gastric Bypass. After a Mini Gastric Bypass, your stomach looks like a small tube. The surgeon also makes a detour in your intestines.
Biliopancreatische Diversie/Duodenal SwitchIn this operation, the surgeon reduces the size of the stomach. In combination with a Duodenal Switch, a detour is made in your intestines. About three-quarters of the normal digestive tract is bypassed as a result.
Gastric BandWith a Gastric Band, the surgeon divides your stomach into 2 parts with a silicone band. In general, this operation is still rarely performed as the result is less than with other operations.
