New supplements for common complaints experienced during obesity treatment
FitForMe addresses protein deficiency, digestive issues, and nutritional deficiencies for people affected by obesity

Rotterdam, April 29, 2026

More than one billion people worldwide are living with obesity. Lifestyle intervention programmes, GLP-1 medications, and bariatric surgery can be transformative—but they do not exist in a nutritional vacuum. Deficiencies are common among people affected by obesity before treatment begins, and surgery or medication can make them harder to ignore. Patients arrive underprepared, find little nutritional support built into their care, and are largely left to manage the consequences on their own. FitForMe is launching three products to change that.

Clear Protein+, Digestive Balance, and Balance Boost each address nutritional challenges that arise across the different pathways available to people affected by obesity. Notably, Balance Boost represents FitForMe's first product developed specifically for people on lifestyle intervention programmes, expanding the company's reach beyond its traditional focus. Nutritional support, FitForMe argues, should be standard across all pathways.

“People who are losing a lot of weight know that their bodies are changing and they want to address this properly,” said JC Heyneke, CEO of FitForMe. “Nutrition plays a bigger role in this than is often thought. From conversations with healthcare professionals and patients, we see where things go wrong. Think of protein absorption after surgery or at the start of medication, bowel issues that disrupt daily life, and deficiencies that often arise even before treatment.”

Real-world feedback

The three products were developed in close collaboration with patients. Their practical experiences determined, among other things, the shape and tolerability. FitForMe gathers these insights through its own support and product teams, and contact with healthcare professionals. This input is intended to ensure that the products better align with what patients need during their treatment.

Protein deficiency

The first product targets patients who struggle to obtain sufficient protein through diet or whey protein supplementation. FitForMe therefore developed a clear pea-based drink combining protein, collagen, vitamin C, and manganese. This combination supports muscles, skin, joints, and energy after significant weight loss. “After bariatric surgery or weight loss with medication, protein is essential,” says Heyneke. “Many patients tolerate milk-based protein drinks poorly, so we needed something they would actually want to take every day. That is why a lighter variant was chosen that is easier to use daily.”

Digestive discomfort

Bloating, bowel irregularity, and abdominal discomfort are common after bariatric surgery and medical weight loss. They can significantly disrupt daily life. However, these complaints often receive little attention during aftercare. To counteract this, the Rotterdam-based company developed Digestive Balance. This is a probiotic powder in stick packs containing Lactobacillus acidophilus and Bifidobacterium lactis. Each serving contains 10 billion bacteria.

Micronutrient deficiency before treatment

People affected by obesity often already have deficiencies in multiple nutrients before treatment starts. These deficiencies affect energy, immunity, and mood, and consequently how a person approaches treatment. Balance Boost is a daily micronutrient supplement designed to replenish these deficiencies before the start of further treatment.
