How to turn your supplement into a habit - and never forget it again

Know that feeling? Halfway through the morning, it suddenly hits you: your multivitamin. Did you already take it today? Or was that yesterday?

Taking your supplement consistently is one of the biggest challenges of using vitamin supplements, especially when life is busy or unpredictable. But here's the good news: you don't need iron discipline, you just need a smart routine.

1. Why a fixed routine really makes the difference

Your brain loves repetition. Psychological research shows that behavior you repeat regularly in the same situation eventually becomes automatic, without you having to think about it consciously¹. You open the curtains when you wake up, you brush your teeth before bed, and you put your keys in the same spot when you get home. In the same way, you can turn your supplement into a genuine habit too.

That's valuable, because taking your supplement daily and consistently contributes to a stable supply of the nutrients your body needs. If you regularly skip a day, that build-up can be disrupted.

Building a routine like this does take some time. Research shows it takes an average of 66 days before a new behavior really starts to feel automatic². Missed a day? Don't worry, it happens to everyone. Just start fresh again the next day.

2. Link your supplement to something you already do

One proven technique is "habit stacking": you link a new behavior to an existing habit. Behavioral researcher James Clear³ shows that this is one of the most effective ways to form new habits.

This can look different for everyone. The best approach is to find what works well for you. Here are some examples of what other customers do:

  • Put your supplements somewhere visible: for example, on the kitchen counter, next to your breakfast things, the coffee machine, or your toothbrush. That way, you can directly link taking your vitamin pill to breakfast, coffee, or brushing your teeth.
  • Use a pill box: this works especially well if you take other supplements or medication alongside your FitForMe multivitamin.
  • Set a reminder on your phone: by setting a reminder in your calendar, alarm, or a dedicated reminder app, you'll get a daily nudge to take your multivitamin. Set it up here.
  • Use a sticky note as a reminder: stick one on your mirror or fridge, for example, so you get a small daily nudge.
  • Print our intake calendar: stick it on the fridge or hang it up somewhere else. Taken your multivitamin? Just tick it off on the calendar. That way, you've got a handy reminder for staying on track. You can download the calendar here

In the end, it doesn't matter which method you choose, what matters is doing it every day. Step by step, that's how you build a routine that sticks.

At first, it takes conscious effort. But every time you take your supplement at the right moment, you strengthen that connection in your brain. After a few weeks, you'll notice it starts happening automatically - and by then, you've built a strong routine.
